Colours are especially popular in
conjuncton with leather jewellery cases, leather
caskets, leather desk accesories and leather dining
table items. Our contemporary leather goods
use modern tanning techniques to produce a wider range
of bright colours such as yellow, green, pink, red
etc.

Waterproofing required for drinking
vessels would originally have been provided by the
use of pitch. However, the original material is
toxic and modern requirements necessitate the use of
bitumen instead and is completely safe to drink
from. Bitumen is ideal for holding beer, wine,
cider, mead and soft drinks. however it is not
suitable for spirits e.g. Whisky or Brandy, as this
would dissolve the bitumen lining.
The beautiful finish of leather goods is achieved by staining and waxing to create a beautiful polished sheen.
